In the evening of Thursday, 31 March, the Principal joined Georgette Hamaty, Tony Manasseh and Richard Bampfylde to discuss preparations for a visit to the USA particularly to Philadelphia, New York and Washington in the Autumn probably in October to fundraise for the School. Preparations for this are being worked out now so that there is more than adequate introduction to individuals and to Quaker Meetings and to Quaker Schools as well as to Old Scholars who are living in or near the places he shall be visiting in the States.
Following that meeting, Principal Gray had a meeting online with John Crosfield, Trustee of QuIET, and Stephen Moore, the Head of the Friends School in Lisburn, a Quaker school in Northern Ireland. He and his Chairman of Governors, Philip McDonagh, had been going to come out and visit us at Brummana just before the lockdown started. He is, however, keen to revive the relationship with the school and hopes to come out with his Chairman to Brummana in the Autumn. In the meantime, he will look at fundraising at school for BHS and also at other ways of establishing links with us. It was a good meeting, one of a number the Principal has held with Heads of Quaker Schools in the UK, some of which have proved to be fertile ground both for fundraising and friend raising.
