Regrettably, I need to inform you that when you receive the term 3 tuition fees invoice you will notice that there is an increase to the yearly tuition fees and related charges of an additional 25%. This has been proposed and approved by the Brummana High School Governing Body and has been discussed and agreed with the Parents’ Association Committee. The increase provided by the tuition fees will partially cover: the increased costs of fuel for heating and for generating electricity; mandatory transportation allowances for staff recently increased by the Government ; the annual subscription for water; the increased educational contribution to staff who have school children in other schools, and the higher cost of internet at school. All of these costs are beyond the school’s control and government decisions on increasing the costs were made after the budget had already been set for the current year 2021-2022.
While the increase in tuition fees does partly cover the increased costs which the school must now meet, it still means that the school will make a substantial loss in the current financial year which in the longer term is clearly not sustainable.
I understand that I am giving you unwelcome news, but as I have explained there is little choice but to raise the tuition fees substantially so that the school remains a going concern. Parents who face financial difficulties with the term 3 invoice should contact the Bursar, Mr. Raymond El Feghali, in order to discuss the situation with him.
We are keen to help struggling parents where it is possible for us to do.
