End of Term Intermediate Assembly

Ms Rima Maatouk Habib kicked off the Assembly with a short introduction and playing the first of many Christmas songs. Principal David Gray then spoke and urged students to rest well over the break in order to recharge after all their great efforts this term. Mr Gray then shared a meaningful, thought-provoking Christmas story for the students. The story spoke of giving and even more importantly of giving love at Christmas time. He recommended they give as much love as they can to their family over the festive period. Vice Principal Pastoral Sage Ball then shared a few words. The most enjoyable time of his day each day is when he knows he has a lesson coming up. The days when he doesn’t teach just aren’t quite the same. The reason being that his purpose is for the students, Intermediate students and any other students he is currently teaching, or has taught over the years. He wished all the students a very happy holiday and a happy new year and urged them to relax, do all of the activities they like to do, and then return fully recharged for the next term. Grade 9 students then shared a few words for their peers as well as a video about giving. The very successful Christmas biscuit basket project was then presented, collecting biscuits for those less privileged in the Brummana community. This was followed by a video ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas Time’. More Christmas messages were then shared by Grade 9 students. More songs and videos followed, including a Christmas medley sung in Arabic, which included Fairouz. Ms Rima then shared the near-final words for the Assembly, thanking Mr Gray, Mr Ball and all the students who presented and indeed all the students who joined. She said over 50 boxes and bags have been collected for the biscuit basket project, and actually a giant Christmas tree was designed (before handing out the gifts) – look out for the pics! She re-confirmed there is no homework for the Christmas break and told all students to enjoy themselves safely and always to remember to smile! A very special solo was sung live from the Meeting House on campus by the school’s music teacher and choir leader – Ms Tcherelle Khairallah – and excellent it was too. The students were then treated to a Christmas dance from their Advisors. Finally, the whole Assembly sang ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!’
