On Friday, 15 January 2020 there were no online classes throughout school and we held a memorial, in the form of a General Staff Assembly, for Micheline Abi Rached, Coordinator for Special Arabic in the Lower School, who so tragically passed away on Thursday the 7th of January. Principal David Gray led the assembly and began by speaking about her from a professional perspective, including how she was an outstanding teacher who was blessed with a love of young people. After that, he passed on the condolences of the Chairman of the Governing Body, Hani Aboul Jabine, who was unable to attend personally. He then introduced in turn each of the speakers: Shatha Abu Kahlil, the Head of the Elementary Sections; Mouheeb Akl, the Chair of the Teachers’ Association; Dina Bechara, the Chair of the Parents’ Association; Khalil Abi Rached, Micheline’s husband; and Sarah Rizkallah, Micheline’s sister. All of them spoke with great affection and movingly about the life of Micheline, including her selflessness, her kindness, her dedication and her faith. The Assembly concluded with a prayer which was read by the Principal. May Micheline’s soul rest in eternal peace.
