Last month’s QuIET Fundraising Committee Meeting was held on Tuesday, February 23rd, with seven attendees in Lebanon, the UK and US participating. Thank you letters for donations received were scrutinised, follow up information to Quakers was produced and there was discussion of BHS taking part in two conferences, one the European and Middle Eastern Quakers Annual Meeting in May, and the other the British Quakers annual Meeting in July. At both of these, the school will showcase a video as a well as several Trustees and Leaders attending, probably virtually, and speaking at them. There was also discussion of the July fundraising campaign for QuIET, the report of a meeting with Friends United Meeting (FUM), a Quaker organisation in the USA with which we have established good links, while we also talked about our North American strategy. Richard Bampfylde, the school’s Marketing Manager, presented a fundraising strategy for BHS which the group approved. There was also discussion of approaches being made to charitable trusts and foundations in the UK and the US, for which a few of our Secondary students are heavily involved. To quote Principal David Gray,

“This group has proved to be instrumental in spearheading Brummana High School fundraising efforts and in identifying a proper purpose and direction for these in a way I would not have imagined a year ago. It is really very encouraging and especially necessary in the current circumstances since fundraising needs to be ongoing in order to support bursaries and capital projects.”
