Theophilus Waldmeier Founder of the Friends Syrian Mission and BHS (Susan Bell Waldmeier) 1873-1877

“The people at Brummana and other villages asked me for schools, and I thought it good to comply with their wishes. I therefore wrote to my friends at Berne in Switzerland on the subject, and they sent me at once the means for opening a Girls’ School at Brummana, which was done in the summer of 1873. … Before the year [1873] closed means were sent from Canton de Vaud and from Lausanne, in Switzerland, by Madam Clara Monneron, for opening Boys’ Schools at Brummana and Beit Mary.” Theophilus Waldmeier, The Autobiography of Theophilus Waldmeier, p. 255-256

“Dr. Beshara Manasseh, whom Waldmeier had met earlier … came up the mountain in 1877 to be the first head of the Boys’ Training Home. 2 Lotfallah J Rizkallah 1878-1895

3 Thomas Little (Wega Saalmüller Little) 1895-1908

‘LITTLE, Thomas: B.T.H. [Boys’ Training Home] 1887; Principal BHS 1895-1908’ Turtle Index p. 173

4 Emily Wright Oliver (Acting) (Daniel Oliver) 1908-1910

5 Marshall N Fox (Acting) (Annie E Leslie) 1910-1911
