Fully recognising the ongoing economic and other challenges in Lebanon, the school nevertheless continues to keep an eye on potential overseas trips to the United Kingdom and France which were previously under discussion. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the difficult economic situation in the country, these trips were originally postponed. The Principal is looking to see if they might be possible in the coming year despite all the challenges.
Mr Gray held a meeting with Mr Elie AlHelou, the Head of the Social Sciences department, to discuss various departmental matters and to bring his working party on twinning to a successful conclusion so that dates can be fixed for an exchange, or at least a visit to Sidcot School in Devon in the foreseeable future, either between January and July 2022, or the following academic year.
Similarly, the Principal met with Ms Jaimie Tayah, the Head of the Modern Foreign European Languages department, to talk about various departmental issues and to discuss the revival of a plan to take a group of students on a trip to France probably in the 2022-2023 academic year.
Of course the school is very aware of the extremely challenging financial situation in Lebanon and on the majority of BHS community families, which will be taken into consideration at all times when planning such trips.
We will publish news once final decisions and any plans concerning these overseas trips are made.
