The BHSMUN delegates’ participation in Yale University’s YMUN virtual conference was an incredible start to the year. We are really proud of the students; Ramy H., Marc S., Ryan F., Jad A., Chloe Z., Danielle S., Karl E., Kiyan El M., Chris J., Naya El F. and Rachel S.. They pushed through a lot of challenges and setbacks.
Unfortunately, due to the current situation in Lebanon, our delegates had to face numerous obstacles. To begin with, considering the time zone difference, our devoted delegates had to adopt a variety of measures, such as drinking lots of coffee or even napping at odd hours, in order to attend the conference committee session after 12 a.m. which would last until 6 a.m. Then there’s the internet and electricity. Unlike other international delegates, our committed MUNers would have to pause in the middle of heated debates to await the return of these two. Throughout this online conference, mobile data and electric lamps became fundamental elements. Despite all of these setbacks, there were many incredible moments to be had. Meeting new people, learning how to debate in a different format than they’re used to, and even viewing and discussing new topics on the spot.
All of these moments were unique and kept our attendees motivated to complete the four-day conference. We are extremely impressed by these delegates; their participation in the difficult MUN conference demonstrated remarkable courage and perseverance. Not to forget our own delegates, Karl E., Naya El F. and Rachel S., who were all awarded honorable delegates.
Also, a big thank you and shoutout to our BHSMUN trainers, who remained up all night to aid these students. We’re blown away by this fantastic start to the year and can’t wait to see our delegates shine even brighter in the future.
