First Sports Tournament on BHS Sports Arena

Saturday, 2 April: BHS hosted its first sports tournament on the new Sports Arena top-of-the-range artificial grass, inviting school junior rugby teams for a competition as well as adults over 35 to play in a ‘friendly’ veterans match. The touch rugby tournament kicked off at 9am and went all the way through to 12 noon despite the strong sun and warm weather. A water cooler was provided and players encouraged to bring reusable bottles to keep hydrated. First up were the junior rugby teams representing BHS Jackals (2 teams), Jamhour Bluestars (3 teams) and Academy (2 teams). There were U12 and U14 categories. All teams played remarkably well and in great spirit. It was also fantastic to see so many parents and other members of the community there to cheer on teams and enjoy the occasion. After the juniors the Veterans played several ‘quarters’ – until they ran out of steam in the heat. Here’s looking forward to more and more sports tournaments and other events hosted on this very special new facility.
