Wissam Boustany, the world famous flautist, will be coming to Brummana High School (BHS) on Thursday, 27 February.
Mr Boustany will perform ‘Rising from the Ashes’ by Jordanian composer Tarek Younis to grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. Tatiana Khoury will support Wissam during his performance at BHS. The piece to be performed is about ‘renewal’ and was written specifically for Wissam by Tarek Younis. Following the concert, Wissam will provide a masterclass to four students from the school. This is a wonderful opportunity for these four students and we believe that they will benefit significantly from his experience and skill. The piece performed will lead wonderfully into the competition that Wissam will announce to the students.
Mr Boustany and the Principal, David Gray, will launch the Beacon of Hope – Art/Poetry Competition at BHS. This competition aims to engage the children’s passions and give them the opportunity to connect with life and music, while honing their artistic and linguistic skills. The Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) have a concert on the May 22nd. The winning painting from the Beacon of Hope competition will be printed in the LPO’s concert programme and the winning poem will be recited at the concert. The students whose pieces win the Beacon of Hope competition, and their parents, will be invited as special guests to this concert.
