For the Infant Section, the week started with a very positive assembly, with a focus on the theme of ‘honesty’, on Monday, 20 January 2020.
Head of Section Ms Nada invited students to express what they know about honesty to start proceedings. Students suggested many ideas, with one in particular – respect (to respect themselves and their peers/adults in order to be honest) – mentioned by more than one student. Ms Nada also stressed on the responsibilities of students at school, such as arriving at school on time, ensuring toys are put away neatly after play time and for girls to keep their hair tied. Another responsibility, particularly for assemblies, is for students to be part of a respectful audience, staying quiet and focusing on the presentations.
The three KG3 classes presented one after the other on the honesty theme. KG3A sang an inspiring song ‘Be Honest’. KG3C acted out the story of ‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’ and also sang a short song ‘Honesty’. Lastly, KG3B gave a quick explanation of what honesty means and then sang their song on the theme. All three presentations were very worthwhile and also entertaining.
Ms Nada then wrapped up the presentations, reminding students to tell the truth and that an honest person is a strong person. After this, the whole infant section sang two songs: If You’re Happy And You Know It and BINGO. Finally, everyone in the assembly shared a moment of silence, before Ms Nada wished everyone a very nice week ahead.
