Vice Principal Pastoral Sage Ball gave Intermediate students an assembly about taking risks.

The teenage brain is a wonderful thing. It is set up for exploration and risk taking. But, the part of the brain that considers the longer term consequences of our actions does not fully develop until we are 25 years old!

Teenagers will take online risks in the modern age because they are geared to do this. Sometimes, they are asked by peers to share something online, often photographs, that they do not want to share. Saying no to your friends, or those who are close to you, is difficult.

‘Zipit’ is an app designed by Childline to help young people to say ‘no’ using humourous gifs and pictures. It’s so simple and so easy to use and it makes the point that needs to be made.
