Social Science: Juan Pablo

Throughout all my years in Brummana High School, I have had few classes which are as interesting and as eye-opening as my Psychology class has been. Mr. Elie Al-Helou has been a great positive influence on me and approaches us, his students, with a degree of sincerity and care that is extremely valuable and motivating. Our class is not just limited to topics related to psychology; we always hold interesting and engaging discussions about societal and even philosophical topics. It is the sort of course that will not only teach you about psychology, but also about life and society.

I just thought I’d drop you this e-mail to let you know how kind and efficient I find Ms. Christine, the Lower Primary Secretary. I call her at least every other week and sometimes a couple of times a week for something to do with Maya or Isla. She has been and still is always happy to help no matter how busy she may be, efficient and most importantly she responds to calls and requests nicely every single time. I find this rare in many organizations both private and public so I felt the need to point out this about her, which I have no doubt you already know. She really makes me feel at ease and welcomed every time I call.

Upper Primary 1 – Micheline

Dear Ms. Micheline, I would like to thank you so much for the kindness, understanding, and support you have shown towards Alexander. After 5 tough weeks away from school, he shared with me that on the first day of his return, you gave him a very big hug and said some very kind, positive words to him.  It has been an extremely busy time since Alexander returned to school, I’m sorry I couldn’t write you sooner about this. But I did not want to let another day pass without letting you know how much we appreciate your sweet gesture.

Besides the chapters we are meant to learn, we have been given the opportunity to learn maths beyond books. I really enjoyed the concept of flipped learning as I was able to realise that I grasp mathematical concepts better if I teach myself and adapt to solving in a way I personally am most comfortable with.

Having Ms. Aline as my math teacher in both grade 9 and 12 has helped me a lot in both math and in life , as she not only teaches us about math but about many things that help our minds and bodies relax and focus more. As a member of her grade 12 SE class I truly appreciate her using some class time in the most efficient way possible and also having the time to listen to us and help us in many ways. One of these ways was introducing us to mindfulness and showing us how it helps us not only in the class but also in life. So thank you Ms. Aline for everything you have done in these couple of years that have really changed my life in many aspects.

In our IB1 Math SL course, because of the small number, Ms. Aline always takes her time to make sure every person understands the concepts given. She makes the environment very warm and we all feel very comfortable to participate. We are never afraid of making mistakes, as it may tend to be the case in other environments, because of her encouraging character. We are always on top of our work because of her organization and we are always given extra resources and worksheets to help grasp or practice the concepts more. Working in pairs or flipped learning has been done quite a few times during class.

Math class is one of the most entertaining and interesting classes, as we do not only learn about math but also about life. Ms. Aline teaches us not only math but how to relax and always be patient, she does that through mindfulness. And as part of her class I truly appreciate her taking a time out to teach us these new things

Our IB math class has been the greatest one this year. I am always motivated to learn and go to that class. The teacher, Ms. Aline, knows how to teach her students properly. When the lesson is too hard for us, she finds a way to make it easier and that’s how we understand it better.

On behalf of the entire G9LPA we thank Miss Aline Alam for being there for us and for guiding us through one of the toughest years. Miss Aline has not only taught us how to solve complex equations, she has also taught us about Japanese culture, mindfulness and ensured safe passage for all students on this journey of education.

Brevet is a really stressful year. Every student has been working really hard to try to achieve good results. Thankfully, Miss Aline Alam taught us how to surpass this stress by teaching us mindfulness. Mindfulness makes you forget stress and always think about the future instead of the past. Thank you Miss Aline for being an awesome Math teacher, our grades have increased significantly because of you️.
